Once a booming resort town, not too far from Palm Springs, Bombay Beach in the Salton Sea is now a haunting reminder of a one-time tourist destination.
Bombay Beach was once a popular getaway for beachgoers until the 1980s, when the draining and increasing salinity of the Salton Sea destroyed the lake's ecosystem and drove businesses and private landowners out of the area, rendering Bombay Beach a ghost town. Bombay Beach is a renegade celebration of art, music, and philosophy that takes place on the literal edge of western civilization, at the shores of the Salton Sea.
This photograph was shot on film, therefore grain and imperfections are present and more noticeable in larger prints. This is natural with film photography. The camera used was a Mamiya RB67 Pro 120 film.
This photo print is produced on Photo Rag, a matte, 188gsm, acid- and lignin-free paper made of 100% cotton by Hahnemühle. Coupled with archival ink and the latest printing technology from Canon, guarantees a premium, high quality print to last for many years to come.
